LG Electronics Jan. 5 expanded its distribution deal with Netflix with the announcement of a new line of Internet-enabled high-definition plasma and LCD televisions capable for the first time of receiving streams without requiring an external device or set-top box.

PC World reported Jan. 4 that Samsung Electronics is set to unveil a 6.5-millimeter-thick (0.26 inch) LCD TV at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. It would be the thinnest LCD TV ever made.

Pepsi will give away more than 125 million free 3-D glasses at more than 25,000 retail locations this month, so Super Bowl commercial viewers will be able to watch a 90-second 3-D spot of DreamWorks Animation's Monsters vs. Aliens, as well as a 30-second Pepsi/SoBe Life Water commercial.
