Projections: 'Chainsaw' Seeks To Cut Competition
20 May, 2013 By: John Latchem
The week ending May 19 looks like one in which a slate of moderately successful new releases enters the market against several strong holdover titles.
The ones with the best chance of topping the sales charts are Lionsgate’s Texas Chainsaw, the latest entry in the famed horror franchise, which took in $34.3 million at the domestic box office, and Warner’s sci-fi anthology Cloud Atlas ($27.1 million).
The lack of strong box office newcomers could open the door for a TV release, such as Showtime’s Dexter: The Seventh Season, to debut high on the charts.
